POSITION OVERVIEW:
Safari JOBS is now searching for a General Manager for a new luxury photographic camp situated in Botswana.
The successful candidate will report to the Concession Managers and Regional Managing Director and should be willing to work for extended periods in a remote environment. The camp will have a staff compliment of 43 members.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Tertiary qualification preferably a degree or diploma in Hospitality / Tourism or similar
** must have original copies of qualifications for work permit applications**
Previous Management experience in luxury camp environment – minimum 4 years
International experience an advantage
Strong administrative skills
Strong staff management skills
Maintenance skills and experience an advantage
Experience and ability to train staff effectively
Experience and ability to get the camp staff working as a team
Fully computer literate
Proficient in English, ability to communicate in foreign languages are an advantage

Need to be mature, well educated, well presented and well spoken
Need to be responsible, able to work under pressure and unsupervised
Need to be willing to work in remote areas for extended periods of time

KEY FOCUS AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full and overall responsibility for Camp, staff and guests with the assistance of the management team
Full and overall responsibility for the administration management with the assistance of the management team
Hosting of guests and being a point of contact for guests
Staff management including all disciplinary procedures
Mentoring and development of the camp team and management team
Working together with the Concession Managers and senior management teams to ensure highest standards are delivered in line with the Company vision.

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS:
(DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND SUITABILITY)
18, 000.00 – 20,000.00 BWP per month, negotiable.
50% contribution to the company medical aid scheme or equivalent value paid as a taxable allowance for a medical aid of the employee’s choice.
10 front of house bed nights per annum (conditions apply)
14 back of house visitation nights per annum
Discretionary bonuses paid in December
All meals, accommodation and transport into and out of camp to or from Maun / Kasane
Gratuity of 1 day’s salary per complete month payable on termination of contract or after 5 years of service.

WORK CYCLE:
3 months on, 27 days off
