|Job Description:||Main Purpose Of The Job
The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day running and management of Geochemistry laboratory and other related Departmental laboratory facilities. He/She will assist in the running of Inductively coupled Plasma optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (SIRMS), Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IR-MS), Ion Chromatography System (ICS), Inductively coupled Plasma Spectroscopy (ICP-MS); inspect, maintain and arrange for servicing and repair of geochemical equipment in the Geochemistry laboratory; keep an inventory of the spare parts and arrange for purchasing of consumables in consultation with Chief Technician and carry out duties assigned by the Head of Department and other Staff members.
|Preferred Skills:||Academic Qualification
Bachelor of Science Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Geochemistry or any Geology related discipline deemed appropriate by the Department of Earth and Environmental Science. Possession of a higher degree (MSC) will be an added advantage.
Three (3) years post qualification relevant experience in Geochemistry Research and/or Academic laboratory is required. Candidates with experience in running Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), Stable Isotope Ration Mass Spectrometer (SIRMS) Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IR-MS), Ion Chromatography System (ICS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) will be prioritized.
