Job Description: Main Purpose of the Job

To provide all the required technical service to enable the laboratory to function effectively whilst adhering to correct procedure and health safety guidelines and maintain inventory of stocks.

Preferred Skills: Academic Qualifications

  • A minimum of a 2 year Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology or equivalent
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Physics or a related field will be an added advantage

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience or and  2 years working experience in a teaching lab.
  • Operational skills and experience in one of the following types of Scientific equipment will be and added advantage: XRD, AFM, RAMAN, MP-EAS, and Scanning Electron Microscope

The position requires the following Competencies/Skills:

  • Good Practical skills and communication skills
  • Strong communication ability in English – both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively present information in all situations to staff, students, and other employees of the organization and to all external stakeholders including suppliers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Computer skills using MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software.
  • Team work.
