ASSISTANT UNDERWRITER-FACULTATIVE

The following vacancies have arisen within FMRE Property 8 Casualty Botswana, a subsidiary of First Mutual Holdings Limited, which is one of the leading reinsurance company in Botswana and Southern Africa. In addition to reinsurance security in general insurance, the company also provides a diverse range of technical services to back its core reinsurance services to insurance companies and reinsurance brokers across Africa. Suitably qualified and experienced applicants are being invited to fill the vacancies.

The Jobs

• Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
• Analysing and assessing technical insurability of facultative and treaty reinsurance business.
• Assist in developing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external clients in order to attract, develop and retain profitable book of business.
• Following up on reinsurance renewals and new business in both local and regional markets.
• Treaty administration and reporting.
• Claims assessment, registration, analysis and settlement.
• Processing claims recoveries.
• Reconciliation of premiums paid against premium arrears on both treaty and facultative business and collecting of outstanding amounts.
• Production of monthly/quarterly/annual operating reports.
• Handling client queries and client relationship building activities.
• Attending to the general administration of the department.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

• Diploma in Insurance or equivalent
• At least one year work experience in a similar work related environment
• Team player, analytical problem solver, self-driven, reliable and results-oriented
• Excellent verbal 8 written communication skills
• Knowledge of SICS/NT is an added advantage
