Role Summary
To manage and coordinate the medical imaging services in the diagnosing of various patient medical conditions using medical imaging and give reports that can enable doctors to plan the next step of treatment.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
- To develop and implement radiation policies and procedures based on Radiation Protection Act and Regulations
- To monitor the maintenance and quality assurance testing of radiology equipment to ensure compliance to the Radiation Act and Botswana Health Inspectorate Requirements.
- To act as a radiation safety officer for the hospital and advice management on all radiation matters including radiation barrier
- To perform medical imaging examination as per standard operating procedures and perform relevant image processing and issue results for use in diagnosis and treatment
- Administers radiopaque substances by injection and orally
- Justify, supervise and perform radiographic examinations, providing direct care and a high diagnostic imaging services
- Perform and validate internal and external quality control
Inherent Requirements
- BSC Diagnostic Radiography
- Registration with Botswana Health Professional Council
- Extensive knowledge in MRI/CT/Ultrasound/Mammography a pre-requisite
- Cardiac catheterization imaging and knowledge in nuclear medicine as an added advantage
- PACS
- Use of digital Medical Imaging Technology
- 5 years experience
- 5 years post qualification
