CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (EXECUTIVE POSITION) – FNB BANK

Job description

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the C00 is responsible for all operations activities of FNB Botswana He/she is also responsible for ensuring that all operations of the bank are in total conformance to the bank’s quality system in accordance with customer and the institution’s requirements. The C00 directs, administers, and coordinates organization policies the internal operational activities of the organization in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the Executive Team, Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors. He/ She leads and directs the following functions and/or business units: Operations, Cash Center, Project Management, Infrastructure Management, Security and Business Improvement, He/she will also be responsible for coordination and communication with relevant regulatory requirements

The Individual will primarily be responsible for, but not limited to the following;

  • Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the management of operations, quality, effectiveness and safety
  • Implementation and maintenance of the Banks operations procedures, reporting on the performance and initiating improvements for operations
  • Establish procedures for maintaining high standards of banking operations, effectiveness, reliability and safety
  • Determine and enforce (through functional groups) productivity, quality and safety requirements in accordance with the banks needs based on based on current regulations
  • Promote companywide quality and process improvement efforts
  • To achieve an optimal balance between customer needs, policy, growth, profitability, risk, resources, liquidity, and capital adequacy while improving cost effectiveness of the bank
  • Participates in the development and preparation of short—term and long—range plans and budgets based upon broad organizational goals and objectives
  • Recommends their adoption to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Directs the development and installation of procedures and control, to promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the enterprise
  • Develops and establishes operating policies consistent with the Bank’s broad policies and objectives and ensures their adequate execution Appraises and evaluates the results of the overall operations regularly and systematically, and reports these results to the relevant authorities including the CE0
  • Ensures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, government and Bank of Botswana regulations and laws governing business operations.

Requirements

  • The suitable candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business and relevant post graduate degree (preferably Masters)
  • A minimum of 10 year’s leadership experience in technology or operations within the financial services industry,
  • Strong ability to build relationships with multiple key stakeholders
  • Extensive general banking experience and credit
  • Tried and tested leadership skills and ability to win work with senior management of the Bank
  • Extensive knowledge of FNB’s operations and its product will be an added advantage
  • The ability to lead and manage multiple disciplines
