Cook – Signet Direct Diamond Sourcing

Job description

The primary responsibility of the role is to undertake cooking and culinary related activities in order to meet the needs of Signet Direct Diamond Sourcing Botswana Factory. Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, working on plate preparation, and maintaining cleanness of the kitchen and service areas ensuring that an excellent hygiene standard is maintained.


Prepare food for service (e.g chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Weigh, measure and mixing of ingredients according to recipes or personal judgement using various kitchen utensils and equipment
Operating grinders, tenderizers, griddles, fryers, boilers and toasters, microwave, warmers in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and/or Health and Safety protocols
Dissembling, cleaning and assembling kitchen equipment
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Clean up station and take care of left over food in compliance with sanitation and safety standards
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
Ensure that all work surfaces, serving areas, and storage areas are kept clean and sanitized and that all sanitary food-handling practices as per Public Health Act are adhered to
Monitoring product use throughout serving period to prevent over production or early depletion



BGCSE, Certificate in Culinary arts, NCC


A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Cook/Catering Assistant. Basic Kitchen Safety course would be advantageous
