Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assume a Strategic Planning and leadership role for a key broking division within the company
  • Servicing and development of Corporate and Multinational client base
  • Specialization in broking and placement of mining and construction clients
  • Fostering of sound working relationships with other functional business unit
  • Point of contact for assisting with client and market queries
  • Familiarity and compliance with all company policies, statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Training and development of all broking staff within the short-term insurance division
  • Preparation of budget for client servicing team and understanding theb importance of client profitability
  • Assume responsibility of sales and marketing objectives of a strategic business unit
  • Ensure that technical, claims and service delivery standards are properly implemented for the client in terms of quality management systems

Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years corporate broking experience in an insurance broking environment
  • Specialisation and at least 5 years, mandatory corporate broking experience in structuring insurance programmes for mining and construction clients
  • Be fully versed in and have excellent knowledge in drafting Assets All Risks, Construction, Liability and other relevant policies
  • Experience with conventional, aggregate, risk financing and risk management principles and concepts an advantage
  • Active participation in renewal strategy meetings and market negotiations
  • Hold Insurance, Risk Management or other related commercial degree
  • Have a Master’s degree in Business, Strategy or Economics
  • In addition, an insurance technical professional qualification with minimum of an Associateship mlevel such as AIISA or ACII is a prerequisite
  • A sales or marketing related qualification will be an added advantage
  • Membership of an internationally recognized insurance professional institute
  • Excellent communication, presentation and inter-personal and supervisory skills
  • Should have strong customer focus and the ability to interact with client/market representatives at all levels
  • Excellent insurance technical skills and be able to work under pressure
