Job Description:
To manage the environmental function, and provide strategic input and specialised advice on the management of environment programs, in line with the organisation’s environmental framework

Key Effectiveness Areas

Analyses the divisional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensure sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters.
Develops the Mine’s environmental strategy to ensure sustainability.
Coordinates the implementation of environment policies, standards, and practices to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and maintain ISO 14001 certification.
Analyses trends and changes in environmental legislation and good practice and aligns to Mine strategy and policies.
Coordinates the development and implementation of the Mine’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
Develops linkages and interfaces with other regulatory or social responsibilities such as safety and occupational health to achieve a holistic compliant environment.
Audits and reports on environmental performance and sustainability to internal and external stakeholders.
Develops and implements Biodiversity action plans for management of the Game Park.
Provides assurance on environmental management and biodiversity conservation principles.
Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results.
Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programme in area of responsibility.
Develops a career, developmental and support platform to facilitate the progression of subordinates to a level of optimal value addition, and to foster a successful and professional community of employees.
Manages subordinates key effectiveness areas.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Environmental Sciences or equivalent

• 7 years post qualification experience in environmental arena or equivalent with 2 years at management level
