Executive Chef – P18000 per month


Location: Botswana

Requirements include:

• Tertiary qualifications (Either a Degree in Food Prep or similar / OR Certificate in Food Prep AND any other Degree)
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a 5 star environment, preferably in a remote area
• Previous experience in menu planning, stock taking and ordering for 5 star establishment – preferably remote environment lodge type establishment
• Proven record with successful staff training and mentoring
• Previous experience in kitchen team management
• Fully computer literate in Windows suite
• Excellent self-motivation and initiative
• Ability to work harmoniously with management and staff of all levels
• Ability to be resourceful, creative and work well under pressure and unsupervised
• Minimum 3 contactable references


Responsibilities include:
• Management and participation of daily kitchen operations and food production in camp to the highest possible standards as set out in the Great Plains vision
• Menu planning in line with seasonal availability and trends
• Menu planning in line with dietary restrictions
• Menu planning in line with budgets
• Costing, ordering and stock control and any administrative duties
• Training and developing the kitchen team
• Managing, motivating and mentoring staff members


Package details
• Salary BWP15-18K per month
• Flights into and out of the concession on routine leave schedules (Maun – Camp – Maun)
• Full live in including accommodation and meals, uniform
• 50% contribution to Bomaid Medical Aid (www.bomaid.co.bw) Scheme B, or equivalent taxable allowance payable to medical aid of employee’s choice.
• Work leave cycle – 3 months on, 27 days off
• Discretionary bonuses payable in December
• 10 front of house bednights per annum (conditions apply)
• 14 back of house visitation nights per annum
• Gratuity of 1 days salary per completed month, payable on termination of contract or after 5 years of service

Candidates must be prepared to live for extended periods of time in a remote environment.
