SAFARI DESTINATIONS, based in Maun, is looking for an ASSISTANT MANAGER : HR to join our already two person HR team.
We are looking for a dynamic, proactive team-player who has a passion for HR and understands the key strategic role that HR plays in successful organisations today.
We need someone with a strong sense of fairness and fair play, able to find the right balance between staff and company interests, accustomed to exploring creative and viable solutions that are mutually beneficial. As role models, HR (and this new staff member) are expected to actively demonstrate the values of our company namely a commitment to showing initiative, to your own and other’s development and growth, as well as to transparency and honesty.
The successful job incumbent needs to be a people’s person with a strong administrative orientation: well organised, a good planner with good implementation and follow through skills, comfortable using technology to work efficiently and effectively.
The person needs to be highly numerate and have strong conceptual skills, able to analyse numerical and qualitative information.
The company has a strong performance culture and the person needs to be able to take pride in their work, work under pressure, cope with volumes of work and meet deadlines, work independently but have the courage to ask for assistance.
The person’s integrity and trustworthy must be beyond reproach.
The person will be responsible for certain key areas in HR e.g. leave management, recruitment and selection of certain staff, logistics related to training, preparation and submission of work permits, first level disciplinary issues (growing this portfolio over time), being available to advise staff, performance review management, other HR administrative work as well as the management of the community engagement portfolio and the day to day supervision of the HR Officer.
The person will also support the HR Senior Manager on certain strategic tasks e.g. policy and procedure development, evaluation of current work, growing this area of their work over time.
The post of Assistant Manager is well suited to a strong, experienced HR professional or a HR manager or Assistant Manager in a smaller organisation who wants to get involved in all aspects of strategic HR, growing and developing under the support and guidance of the current HR Senior Manager.
