QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Law. Master’s Degree or post graduate specialist qualification in the above would be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE: At least 8 years relevant work experience.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To perform and provide guidance on the implementation of the Judicial and court administration functions of the Land Tribunal.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
• Advises the Public on land disputes processes.
• Facilitates out of court settlements and pre-trial conferences.
• Monitors compliance to adjudication processes.
• Registers all court orders and Judgments.
• Monitors registration of cases.
• Compiles statistics of registered, completed and pending cases.
• Prepares court rolls.
• Coordinates preparation of court proceedings.
• Prepares Land Tribunal judgements for compilation of case reports.
• Issues warrants, summons and writs of execution.
• Taxes bills of costs awarded in accordance with set tariffs.
• Signs orders of withdrawal, settlements, and dismissal and default judgements.
• Authorises payments.
• Keeps an account of all court fees and fines.
• Studies cases and materials to keep abreast with current trends in the legal field.
• Familiarizes self with Government Policies and court procedures.
• Benchmarks with other professionals in the legal field and other Land Tribunals for best practices.
• Attends training, workshops and seminars.
• Facilitates staff training.
• Reviews supervisees’ performance.
• Recommends training and promotion for supervisees.
• Coaches and mentors supervisees.
• Supervises junior officers.
• Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.
