The Associate HR & Talent Manager will play an important role in leading the talent, recruitment and team bonding initiatives in the organization. Our Vision For 2020 is to reach 700 schools throughout Botswana, providing life-changing health and education programs.
The transition from a startup organization, to one that is building systems for scale – we need a highly organized and innovative team member to grow the Young 1ove team. Working in this role provides an opportunity to work closely with the Co-Founders and dabble between multiple priorities all the while building the culture and staff development. Their knowledge of Botswana and global labour laws and principles, culture and staff development, creative team bonding initiatives will set them apart but more importantly – their ability to be highly organized and work on multiple priorities will be game-changing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead recruitment and finding talent for the organization.
- Manage the public relations unit for recruitment.
- Manage compliance with labor laws and regulations together with other HR-related responsibilities such as talent management, staff professional development, pensions, and other employee related benefits.
- Maintain human resources records by recording new hires, resignations, terminations, changes in job roles, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
- Oversee hiring function, including contract creation and renewal.
- Orient new employees by providing orientation information packets and conducting onboarding.
- Maintain Young 1ove facilities, office space to ensure that they are up to employee and organization standard.
- Lead the team bonding and culture initiatives as well as ensuring that the team is productive.
- Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization.
- Organize events and plan logistics with stakeholders advancing Young 1ove’s mission and values.
Qualifications:
This person will ideally enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have excellent project management skills. They should have a Bachelors, strong writing and excel skills, organizational abilities, visual aesthetic, and a Human Resource background recommended. This person should be innovative, all about team-bonding and ability to work on projects from top-to-bottom with minimum oversight.
Characteristics:
- Project Management – Knowledge of project management best practice, tools and structures.
- Technical Skills – A combination of Excel, Writing, Graphic Design
- Detail oriented – Can process, record and react to details relating to effective implementation, and then produce written work which capture “the devil in the details.”
- Ability to create “structure out of nothing”- Strong ability to turn a visual reality or imagined outcome into a codified set of steps, actions and goals on paper.
- Willingness to learn – Must be able to balance having a set of strong skills and track record with openness to feedback, learning, growth and collaboration among colleagues.
- Teamwork – Good interpersonal skills; ability to lead teamwork sessions; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Energy, positivity, motivation and stamina – Must be able to remain enthusiastic and produce quality work under pressure, relentlessly driving for progress with a “go-getter” and positive attitude.
- Self-starter – The creative energy and drive to innovate and take deliverables a step further within a set
Time period: 2-year contract with potential for extension pending performance.
