Supervising inbound/freight receiving services by:
- Monitoring effective off-loading of line-haul by
o Assessing all processed data related to the movement of material, such as printing incoming manifests, separating and splitting to vehicles on manifests, open seals, signing delivery notes, creating scan numbers for off-loading and giving off-loading instructions o Sorting waybills into delivery routes o Monitoring line-haul consignment off-loading and sortation o Debriefing manifest into freightware
- Monitoring correct handling of hazardous, prohibited, suspicious, damaged, short landed and return to origin consignments, and advise / action as indicated
- Ensuring information systems are functioning and that all data and status information is captured and entered into the required system accurately
- Comparing floor reports
Supervising outbound/dispatch services by:
- Monitoring effective loading of line-hauls:
o Presenting material to meet scheduled departures (creating manifests, etc.) o Monitoring line-haul consignment loading o Sealing and authorizing manifests
- Ensuring communication / distributing freight information (retain manifests, discrepancy manifests)
- Ensuring correct handling and lodgment of all consignments including hazardous, prohibited, suspicious, damaged, unidentified and return to origin and take action as is appropriate
- Ensuring information systems are functioning and that all information is captured and entered into the required system
Supervise loading local deliveries by:
- Monitoring vehicle loading and floor activity
- Sealing and authorizing manifests
Maintaining receiving/dispatch workers by:
- Administering and ensuring record retention of operational documentation
- Handling client queries and special requirements, and resolve issues
- Assisting in handling zone control problems
- Communicating operational information, such as:
- Handover reports, consignment queries to CSD o Feedback to other branches o Discrepancies to CSD
Monitoring and ensuring maintenance of warehouse assets by:
- Warehouse equipment inspection and defect reporting
- Ensuring office equipment maintenance
- Inspecting warehouse and yard house
- Keeping and arranging action as required
- Supervising vehicle cleaning
- Conducting security and safety inspections
Business Development:
- The candidate will be responsible for new business sales for the group, focusing on new business generation for Triton Express and Triton Fleet
- Prospecting for new business by opportunity identification, area and business review, making telephonic contact and cold calling
- Qualifying potential clients in terms of requirements (volumes, distribution areas, current providers, cargo types, truck parts etc.) then submitting these to the line manager for consideration in the form of a sales filter
- Gathering market intelligence / information in terms of freight service opportunities & competitor activities
- Gathering market intelligence / information in terms of parts supply (trucks)
- Determining Customers’ needs and demonstrate Triton’s services to them to suite their requirements, adding value to their business
- Formally present the business proposal
- Negotiating prices and credit terms
- Working on continuously improving marketing strategies
- Achieving agreed sales targets for Triton Express & Triton Fleet
- Planning, organising, following up and communicating progress to client effectively
- Input of work to optimise the operations department capability
- Updating leads to PENTAGON
- Effective management of PENTAGON system & processes
- Handling client enquires, queries and problems and facilitating resolutions
- Conducting monthly and weekly service call visitations
- Identifying and capitalizing on service / sale extension opportunities
- Advising rate increases and processing procedural changes
- Building client relationships at all levels
- Monitoring Client activity
- Ensuring that all information from sales is detailed and accurate
- Generating accurate quotes for all work requirements
- Preparing / submitting weekly new business reports
- Monitoring credit applications submitted for approval and expediting
- Preparing recommended proposals for Sales manager’s approval
- Preparing quotes & proposals for parts/tyres enquiries
- Ensuring that parts orders are completed timeously
- Focusing on repeat business on parts/tyres
- Ensuring that all necessary measures are in place to guarantee Customer satisfaction
REQUIREMENTS:
- National Certificate in Road Transport Management
- 3 to 4 years’ experience in freight/transport and Sales
- Supervisory position and general operations procedures
- Basic understanding of Freightware or similar freight management system
- In-depth understanding of operations
- Understanding of freight packaging requirements including hazardous chemicals, and load distribution
- Basic technical understanding of motor vehicles and general traffic ordinances
- Basic understanding of fleet tracking system
- Software applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Selling process and techniques
- Basic principles of marketing
- New business development (prospecting/cold calling)
- Account management
- Advanced selling skills
- Commercial arithmetic calculations
- Writing progress reports / proposals
- Conduct formal presentations
- Own reliable transport to and from work
- Valid driver’s licenses
