Accountable to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be expected to develop an appropriate SEZ model for Botswana to enhance the country’s global competitiveness and to oversee the implementation of the country’s SEZ programme

The incumbent will be responsible for among other things, the following:
- Leading the Special Economic Zones Authority with a dearly defined sense of business direction and purpose.
- Overseeing the execution of a well-defined strategy for SEZ implementation in Botswana, including the business attraction and retention strategy.
- Communicating organisational goals and KPIs
- Leading the planning process to develop and assign responsibility for short and medium- term goals and action plans that wtf achieve the long- term vision and goals
- Leading the organisation culture of regularly assessing progress towards goals and adjusting action plans as needed
- Formulating strategies to achieve the national objectives of economic diversification, jobs creation, and export diversification through the SEZ programme
- Working with government policymakers and other stakeholders to make the case for changes to the business environment that wi lead to increased investment.
- Representing the country internationally to promote awareness of Botswana as a strategic business location
- Representing the Authority to domestic companies and business groups to promote awareness of investment opportunities and SEZA services
- Directing and motivating the SEZA Senior Management Team
- Aligning the interests of the Government, business, and other stakeholders including the public THE PERSON
The right candidate must meet the following minimum requirements
- A Master’s Degree in Business. Economics. Social Sciences. Science, Technology, Engineering or other related field
- 10 years of experience in a commercially oriented environment, at least four (4) of which must have been at executive leadership level.
- Experience of interacting with Government officials at the highest level is desirable.
- Experience of working in a highly regulated industry or with a regulatory body is desirable
- Experience of working with stakeholders in large infrastructure related projects Is desirable
- Proven track record of successfully driving results
