SALARY: D1 (P294, 012.00 – P 324, 600.00) per annum
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum
BENEFITS: i) Optional contributory medical aid (government pay 50% and employee 50%)
ii) Contributory pension scheme (Government contributes 15% and employee 5%)
iii) Scarce Skills Allowance at 40% of Basic Salary as long as it is applicable
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/structural Engineering, Architecture, Electrical Engineering
• Should have registered with a recognized Professional Regulatory Body.
• Certification or a Master’s Degree in Project Management from an accredited Project Management Institution is an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
• Appointment to this post will be considered from candidates who in addition to high professional competence have exceptional administrative and managerial abilities and demonstrable knowledge of the construction industry and Project Management processes and procedures.
• Ten (10) years of relevant work experience in the management of construction projects.
• Two (2) years of which should have been at D2 level or an equivalent level in parastatals or private sectors.
• At least four (4) years should have been spent at Project Management or Resident Engineer handling multi-disciplinary services in large and complex project. Experience in the use of MS Project, Primavera or any project programming tool will be an added advantage. Experience in the use of FIDIC forms of contract is essential.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To coordinate and integrate the efforts of the entire project team into synergetic whole through the provision of technical guidance, project management and being the custodian of all project workflow and controls. This will ensure efficient use of resources and successful closure of contracts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Initiate, plan, execute and ensure successful closure of new development; rehabilitation and refurbishments to set PM standards
• Establish and Maintain Relationships with Sponsors
• Facilitate scoping sessions and project prioritization with stakeholders and senior management to rank potential projects in terms of their expected contribution to meeting organizational goals and/or government-mandated requirements.
• Ensures that the right resources are availed for projects.
• Develop project management plans for projects, implement, monitor and communicate project performance on issues, risks, budget, schedule and scope management mitigation strategies to relevant stakeholders
• Undertakes a lessons-learned and end of activity reports for completed projects, to serve as a guide to future projects.
• Works with individual project team members and stakeholders to ensure the organization’s project management methodology is understood and followed, and helps the project team understand specific organizational goals their project is expected to achieve.
• Facilitates project status meetings with the project team members and stakeholders to ensure project is on schedule, budget and scope.
• In general, assign work, delegate responsibility, coach and mentor project team members regarding the organizational project management methodology and practices to facilitate for professional PM certification
• Provides technical advice in the preparation of the tender documentation, administration of the tendering and evaluation of bids for contract awards.
• Ensures that Conflicts and disputes are avoided and managed effectively through appropriate resolution procedures
• Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by Management
