JOB SUMMARY
To support communications objectives and plans; plan and implement external and internal communications initiatives.
The position directly reports to the Communications Manager POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
- Writes, edits and publicises corporate information to external and internal audiences. Compose, edit, design and produce publications i.e. weekly briefs, newsletter, calendars and other approved publications.
- Writes news releases, speeches and communications/public relations articles/thought leadership articles.
- Seek out event opportunities and produce creative event activation plans.
- Plans and implements publicity campaigns, both internal and external to promote activities of the organisation.
- Creates and coordinates the management and updating of information and content on the company’s communications platforms.
- Maintains and updates content; tracks and manages platform performance through weekly and monthly reporting
- Measures the success of campaign activities ensuring that digital campaigns are on-brand and appropriate to the target audience, employing best practices and support business strategy
- Provides insights and conversion analytics to be used across all portfolios using digital tools
- Carries out internal research into the organisation’s image and develops strategies to improve image and perception internally.
- Maintains and manages the company’s corporate calendar.
- Facilitates the procurement of related products services e.g. corporate gifts, branded corporate stationery, audio visual material, as well as responsible for photographic needs of the organisation.
- Assists with various special projects as requested to ensure the department operates effectively and meets business requirements.
- Recommends annual budget for internal and external communications activities, corporate events, corporate gifts, publications, and public relations activities for inclusion in the Department’s Financial Plan and reports on variances each quarter.
- Maintains and monitors all accounts for the corporate events, corporate gifts and public relations activities and regularly updates the Head of Communications about their performance.
- Carry out other duties assigned from time to time in the interest of the organisation and as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Degree in Business Communications/Public Relations or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in communications/public relations in a business related environment.
Competencies:
- Multiple media communications skills Digital PR skills
- Report writing and editing skills Problem Solving Skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Strong Computer Literacy
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign)
- Proficiency in presentation design tool (Microsoft Power Point, Canva)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Search Engine Optimization, content creation management systems and social media platforms management.
