purpose
To ensure the efficient running of the assigned Credit Portfolio and execute the Credit Risk strategy with a view to maximising the return on capital employed whilst maintaining an acceptable level of risk in terms of the Bank’s credit ethic.
experience and qualifications
§ Preferably Business Degree
§ Proven knowledge of credit policies and procedures
§ Knowledge of relevant Legislation pertaining to Company Law.
§ In depth knowledge of risk and policy procedures
§ Proven communication and customer service skills
§ Ability to work in a pressured environment and flexible extended hours.
§ Extensive and broad lending (practical and technical banking) experience is required with a sound knowledge of corporate finance, company salvage, risk and human resources management. To be effective a good understanding of business strategy is also required.
§ In-depth knowledge of the Bank’s Credit Policy.
§ Bachelor of Commerce Degree or Equivalent
§ Institute of Bankers Diploma
§ Good Knowledge of Financial statement analysis § Credit Management skills and experience of between 5 to 10 years, including in depth knowledge of bank’s financial products is essential.
§ Working knowledge of implementing new processes and systems would be an advantage
§ Good Marketing Skills
§ Leadership Skills and ability to coach and mentor subordinates
§ Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
§ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written)
responsibilities
§ Evaluate credit applications forwarded by the subordinate Credit Managers § To assess all Credit proposals and prepare motivations in excess of delegate authority. § Critically appraise the quality of documents submitted in support of all credit applications. § Adhere to agreed application turnaround times. § To implement a structured § Perform other ad-hoc credit related duties as when requested. § Refer and motivate limit proposals outside of individual lending mandate § Responsible for efficient, courteous, satisfactory resolution of queries and problems. § Ensure general knowledge of business and industry knowledge at all times. § Responsible and Accountable for the training and empowerment needs of Head Office Credit Staff. § Conduct quarterly mini audits of all portfolios of subordinate Credit Managers § To overview the lending’s made and to ensure that the integrity of the Bank’s Credit Risk is maintained. § Responsible and accountable for achievement of Acceptable Audit rating. a) credit management § Excess management. § Expired limits within the agreed thresholds § Special Conditions and Covenants § Security perfection § Facility Letters in place etc § Report any unauthorised events out of the Corporate Credit Portfolio and escalate to the necessary Committees. § Ensure accounts are categorised correctly. b) Legal advisory § To take responsibility for all legal issues which arise during the normal course of Business of the Corporate Credit portfolio. § Liaise with other Attorney firms for difficult opinions and interpretations § Custodianship to all contracts/legal documents/agreements c) Risk & Compliance § Responsible for ensuring that statistics and administration risk and compliance is undertaken. § Liaise with Head Office Credit and the Audit office in designing the necessary risk control measures for Corporate Banking § Ensure that security is perfected before draw down.
