Job Purpose
To design, administer, manage and maintain organisational database for efficient and effective business operations. The role is also responsible for database security measures, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity as well as planning for future expansion requirements.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
​Testing
Uses product specifications to design test procedures and standards.




Safety, Health and Environment
Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organization’s safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
Improvement / Innovation
Identifies shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then delivers a plan for elements of a change management program with guidance from management.
Compliance
Highlights shortcomings and suggests improvements in current compliance processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
Audit
Delivers specified outcomes and/or provides support services within a designated area of audit control by working within established systems.
Client & Customer Management (Internal)
Supports small internal customers to ensure their needs are met and/or helps management manage client relationships.
Data Collection & Analysis
Conducts research using primary data sources and selects relevant information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.
Data Management
Manages the development and/or operation of significant aspects of the data management system with guidance from management.
Internal Communications
Helps others use and benefit from the existing internal communications systems.
Knowledge Management
Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.
Needs Assessment
Investigates questions related to existing programs, processes and procedures.
Recommendations
Provides advice on designing new processes and systems to achieve professional standards and desired outcomes.

Navigates a wide variety of existing processes, procedures and precedents to interpret data and identify possible answers.
Qualifications
  • A recognised University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Equivalent.
  • Industry related certification e.g. MCDA, OCP will be an added  advantage​
Experience
​General Experience
A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in an ICT environment, 3 of which should have been at Database Administration.
