Maintainer Operator Trainee – Fixed term contract (B2 Subgrade)

Job Summary
The successful candidate will undergo a Metallurgical Maintainer Operator Trainee Programme.
Minimum Requirements
• O’ Levels or BGCSE or equivalent
• Exposure to Ore processing plant and Vocational skills will be an added advantage
Key Effectiveness Areas
• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets.
• Operates any section(s) of the process plant and related equipment in a designated area(s) to ensure optimum process efficiency and production throughput by;
– Performing plant inspections and reports to the CCR Operator/Shift
– Coordinator Making interventions to process plant equipment (stopping, starting. adjust) in the field as required or necessitated by process requirements.
– Communicating about prevailing process conditions/trends in his/her section with CCR Operator and other section operators.
• Investigates or diagnoses operational problems on equipment or processes within section and takes corrective action in consultation with Process Controller and Shift Coordinator.
• Performs tasks of a predominantly manual nature such as digging, lashing. cleaning spillages, unblocking. purging etc.
• Operates, Controls and Monitors the plant processes from a sectional operator workstation (SCADA) where applicable by
– Starting and shuttling process equipment and sequences as appropriate.
– Acknowledging process critical alarms and taking appropriate action.
– Interpreting the shift operational plans, analyzing trends and advising or aictioning on course of action for shift.
• Performs maintenance activities in area of responsibility by;
– Carrying out basic plant equipment repairs or interventions to prevent failures (e.g nozzles, belts, tracking, changing v-belts, greasing) on categorized or prescribed equipment.
– Documenting and reporting equipment defects and maintenance requirements to Coordinator/CCR Operator and or advising maintenance crew (raising job requests).
– Carrying out basic maintenance on categorized plant equipment (e.g. cyclone changes, screen mats inspections/changes), dismantling and cleaning equipment.
– Performing lifting operations as per procedures.
• Monitors various process variables and outputs and conducts process checks to ensure common operating conditions through:
– Physical monitoring of process conditions and making interventions/adjustments (identifies flows, crusher gaps. deblinding screen mats etc.) as guided by operational and safety standrds and other process requirements as necessary.
– Identifying, recording and reporting process deficiencies, damages, malfunctions (making interventions where possible and recommending appropriate action).
– Providing and recording consumables inventories and consumptions as required (e.g, fesi, water etc.)
– Purging process equipment to ensure no contamination
• Complies with Diamond control guideline, policies and procedures.
• Complies to seals. spillages, and access procedures.
• Provides input on diamond control as necessary
• Collects and processes samples (or where required special samples) from various sections/equipment of the plant (weighing, measuring, washing, drying and sieving) using various laboratory equipment in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Captures raw sample data into appropriate log sheets, spreadsheets, charts and databases (e.g. Particle size distribution, FeSi analysis, moisture content cyclone parameters, weather information etc.)
• Analyses. interprets sampling data and reports results according to set standards and guidelines.
• Adheres to safety, health and environmental policies, procedures in area of responsibility
