The Ministry of Environment and Tourism’s overall goal is to develop and implement policies, strategies and programs to provide leadership and professional guidance on all matters pertaining to the conservation ana management of the country’s environment and its natural resources for sustainable development and tourism.
VACANCY: DEPUTY MANAGER – PROCUREMENT – D1
A talented, experienced, proactive, innovative, and self-driven citizen of Botswana is sought to fill the above-mentioned position in the Ministry or Environment and Tourism – Department of Corporate Services – Gaborone.
Salary Scale: D1 – (P350, 904 – P386, 976) per annum
Benefits:
- Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%).
- Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable staff (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Logistic/ Project Management or any relevant field. Must be a registered member of one of the listed institutions or registered member of a recognised equivalent institution: CIPS, MCIPS, CILT, ISM, NCMA, ARC, QSRC and ERB
Experience: Applicants must have at least a minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, 2 years of which should have been served on D2 salary scale or equivalent.
Main Purpose of the Job
To coordinate procurement of supplies, services and works as well as disposal of assets for the Ministry in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Performance Areas
- Procurement
- Gives advice on procurement matters requiring policy action and guides on all technical matters for effective procurement of goods, works and services.
- Provides technical advice in the preparation of the tender documentation, administration of the tendering and evaluation of bids for contract awards.
- Manages contracts with contractors to ensure expected deliverable.
- Monitors compliance with Government reservation and price preference schemes during tender evaluation and promotes standardization of procurement of supplies.
- Facilitates efficient and effective service delivery through encouraging timely placement of orders.
- Draws up specifications for the stock range to promote quality assurance and maintenance of high performance standards.
- Reduces the risks of deterioration, obsolescence and unserviceability by ensuring that stocks are issued on first-in-first-out basis.
- Facilitates minimal investment in stock and optimal provision of goods.
- Determines the time limits for holding stock to ensure less capital is tied up on commodities.
- Prepares financial budget estimates for the Division.
