- Providing support through information analyses (e.g. current processes, actual performance vs. budget and prior year, budget, etc.), preparation of operational data/analyses for publication to various constituents throughout the business unit (Management, Sales, Product Management, Operations, etc.) who rely on/benefit from the information to make informed business decisions and ensure profitability.
- Primary responsibilities will include assisting Operations team in the Monthly Operations Review, identify cation of areas for cost reductions and operational improvements, annual budget process, periodic forecasting, contract management and periodic analysis of operations performance.

DUTIES
- Assist the BU head to develop and implement strategy
- Assess, evaluate and report on the financial performance of the BU with regard to short & long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
- Provide insight and recommendations to both the short term and long-term growth plans
- Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team
- Oversee the implementation of process changes, technology to support the finance function
- Analyse competitors and market trends and present financial implications
Financial Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting – preparation and reporting
- Translate various inputs from BU into financial impact
- Oversee and direct the BU budgeting process and forecasting
- Ensure processes and systems are implemented to manage deviations from plans as identified from forecasts
- Prepare and analyse monthly financial results and provide explanations for variances
- Present monthly financial results and reasons for variance to senior management
Financial Management & Administration
- Ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Oversee the preparation of financial and management reporting data
- Prepare consolidated and aggregated monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance and status of BU
- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
- Monitor and report on factors influencing business performance
- Supervise and direct staff
- Prepare presentations and reports
Requirements
- 10+ years total accounting or finance experience
- Exposure to a group company with multiple subsidiaries within the manufacturing/mining industry
- Strong strategic management experience across various portfolio’s (finance, operations, production, human resources, technical, marketing and sales)
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to motivate staff
- Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
