FINANCIAL MANAGER – OPERATIONS( 1)
A diversified Group with significant hospitality operations is seeking a high performing Finance Manager who is commercially minded and has meaningful industry experience. Operations are based in Gaborone, Kasane and Johannesburg with oversight of Southern African operations a part of the responsibility. The role will require managing the accounting function at all hospitality operations in the portfolio, ensuring that the controls and processes are operating effectively as well as assisting on financial elements of the oversight of fully managed hotel operations

Key internal interactions:
In-house accounting teams, Group finance team and CFO COO Hospitality Board members Key external interactions:
Hotel operator accounting teams
Auditors
Tax providers
Accounting software service providers Key tasks include but are not limited to:
-Review of monthly management accounts, understanding and supporting variances to budgets -Ensuring the timely delivery of management reporting pack to the operations team on time every month.
-Preparation of bottom-up budgets and driving accountability within the teams to achieve budget.
-Preparation of monthly/quarterly projections based on actuals and revised budgets -Business partnering with the hotel operations teams to help them to understand results, areas of focus and to maximise performance
-Oversight of the inventory balance, attendance at stock counts, ensure inventories are accurately costed.
-Ensuring that adequate controls are in place in all operational areas and improving and monitoring the control environment
-Overseeing the asset register and the safeguarding of the company’s assets.
-Assist on-site teams with cost centre allocations and payroll burden calculations.
-Review and release of payments to suppliers and staff.
-Preparing regular cash flow forecasts and ensuring that working capital and financing needs are managed and met.
-Monitoring trade receivables and provisions forbad debt
-Reviewing and ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are performed for all balances on the agreed cycle.
-Assisting with the finance and accounting elements of CAPEX projects -Ensuring all tax and statutory obligations of all relevant companies are met.
-Delivery and/or management of drafting of financial statements for relevant companies
Skills required:
-Degree in Accounting and/or Finance with CA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
-Strong excel skills are essential
-Experience in financial management essential
-Proven relationship management skills, communication on digital platforms and ability to collaborate are essential.
-The ability to manage numerous work streams is essential.
-Proven ability to manage staff required.
-Proven ability to implement and improve financial or operational controls and processes. -Experience working in the hospitality industry will be an advantage at least 10 years’ experience in a similar position is a requirement.
-Experience working on property managements systems, will be an advantage.
-Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to work as a productive and positive team member
-The role will require regular travel between Gaborone, Kasane and Johannesburg.
-The role is ideally based in Gaborone, but other locations could be considered for the right candidate.
-Must be able to travel to hotels on a 6-week cycle
