Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd operates the Karowe Diamond Mine at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. The plant was commissioned in April 2012 and has gone on to achieve exceptional performance. It is the source of some truly special diamonds. The plant completed major upgrades that include the introduction of X-Ray Transmission (XRT) technology in diamond recovery. This is adding to the already existing innovative application of autogenous milling in diamond processing. The Company is embarking on projects, which entail enhanced large diamond recovery.

GEOTECHNICAL ROCK ENGINEER (UNDERGROUND) – TENABLE IN LETLHAKANE (36 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Mme Engineer, the Geotechnical Rock Engineer Is responsible for providing an effective geotechnical engineering service to meet the underground project’s objective.

• BSc in Mining Engineering plus a relevant post graduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or similar field

• Minimum eight (8) years post qualification experience preferably in an underground mining environment
• Knowledge of geotechnical computer software and to interpret the data thereof
• Understanding of mine planning, survey, geology network systems and mining work streams and how they integrate with the geotechnical engineering function
• Project and contract management skills (advantageous)
• Membership of a recognised professional body
