Tenable at the National Tennis Centre (Notwane Courts) in Gaborone The position is currently for a 3 Year Fixed Term Contract

 

Job Summary:

The Head Coach – National Teams & High Performance Programme is responsible for coaching age based national teams (U12, U14, U16, U18)

& Senior National Teams as well as running and overseeing the High performance programme that is run at the National Training Centre for advanced players

Key Performance Areas

1. Coaches age based national teams (U12, U14, U16, U18) & Senior National Teams
2. Oversees and manages the High Performance Programme on behalf of the Association.
3. Facilitates the selection of National Teams and age based national Teams
4. Facilitates the selection of Advanced Players for enrolment into the High Performance Programme.
5. Facilitates the development of players’Profiles for National Team players and players in the High performance programme (engages players, their coaches, parents and clubs)
6. Facilitates travel, lodging and meals for national team players

Minimum Requirements:

1. Possession of an ITF level 2 certification (Coaching Advanced Players- CAP). ITF Level 1 (Coaching Beginner and Intermediate players- CBI)

 

2. Any qualification in sport development/ physical education /or related field will be an added Advantage
3. Knowledge of the sport and enthusiasm for tennis

Experience

1. Having been a coach for at least 10 years of which 5 years must be at national team level OR high performance programme level Competencies:
2. Good clerical, administrative and computer literacy (Excel and Word) skills
3. Problem solving skills
4. Good communications skills
5. Ability to plan and organise projects and events
6. Good time management
7. Flexibility, persistence, assertiveness and decisiveness
8. Understanding of the national sport and education system
9. Passion for tennis

Key Activities (Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities)

1. Facilitates the selection of Age Based National Teams and Senior National Teams
2. Coaches age based national team players and Senior National Teams
3. Facilitates the selection of advanced players for enrolment into the High
4. Facilitates and manages the High Performance Programme
5. Coaches players selected for the High Performance Programme
6. Ensures court time is available for age based national team players and national team players
7. Ensures court time is available for the High Performance Programme.
8. Advises the sport association’s Executive Committee on the selection of national teams and appointment of national team coaches at all levels.
9. Facilitates the development of players’ Profiles for National Team players and players in the High performance programme (engages players, their coaches, parents and clubs)
10. Facilitates travel, lodging and meals for national team players
11. Coordinates the identifying talented players in schools, clubs and Tennis Academies for enrolment into the High Performance Programme.
12. Continuous attraction of new players in the High performance programme.
