The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) is a body that was established through the Medicines and Related Substances Act of 2013, to regulate the supply chain of Human and Veterinary medicines, Medical Devices and Cosmetics. JOB PURPOSE:
Assist in the development and implementation of the Human Resource strategy of BOMRA and provide quality HR services to attract world-class talent and create a high-engagement workplace that supports the achievement of the Authority’s mandate.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Working under the Director, assisting in the development and implementation of human resource strategies for talent planning, acquisition, engagement, and development to support the attainment of the BoMRA’s strategic priorities.
- Serve as a strategic partner to different managers and directors by providing professional guidance to ensure the attraction, development and retention of world-class talent, high-engagement and a high performance work environment.
- Assist in the analysis of the implication on employees and the workplace of each key initiatives implemented by BOMRA to ensure that appropriate intervention to mitigate people risks are integrated into the implementation programme.
- Deliver high-quality HR services by leading global professional practices and the performance targets of the Authority and ensure that the Authority meets its strategic agenda.
- Guide the cultivation of a high-engagement work environment by encouraging diversity, opening opportunities for learning and growth for employees, promoting respect, fostering creativity and innovation, promoting health and wellness, giving support and utilizing progressive technology to make BOMRA an employer of choice.
- Facilitate the development of policies and practices that promote shared responsibility for progressive people management and that are comparable to the best in the world to attract and retain highly talented people for the Authority to achieve its strategic goals.
- Facilitate the cultivation of harmonious employee/management relations in accordance with a clear and transparent framework underpinned by Authority’s standards and compliant with national legislative provisions.
- Actively contribute to continuous organisational improvement using best practice change and transition management approaches to ensure the Authority is world-class health products regulatory organisation.
- Assist the Director to build the HR Department into a centre of excellence and recognized leader for state-of-the-art Human Resource Practices in the medicines, health products and cosmetics regulation sector.
- Serve as an internal consultant on human resource matters by advising both the management team and employees on critical strategic and operational people issues to be addressed to improve the workplace environment and culture of the Authority.
- Measure the outputs and outcomes of the performance of the HR section of the department to determine the value it adds to the achievement of the mission of BOMRA and ensure evidence-based strategic management of the workforce and workplace. Maintain working knowledge of the Authority’s HR policies and practices and participate in regular reviews of the documents to ensure they support the creation of the right workplace with a high-performance culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic:
- Degree in HR, Psychology, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
- Master’s degree in HR, Industrial Psychology, Management, Business, or related fields an added advantage
Experience:
- 10 years’ experience in HRM, 3 years in a senior practitioner position.
