INSURANCE MANAGER – Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU)

Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) is an educator’s trade union whose main focus is to advocate and advance its members’ welfare before the employer and other stakeholders. The union negotiates and bargains on behalf of its members. 1. INSURANCE MANAGER

 

Job Purpose

The position will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for developing and implementing the Union’s insurance business strategies and activities, whilst ensuring the delivery of competitive products and services to members, as well as, the achievement of financial returns. Additionally, identifying and analysing risks associated with policies, as well as, minimizing risk of financial loss.

The Job

The incumbent will be responsible for, among others, the following:

• Implementing policies and strategies on the insurance arm of the commercial department whilst providing competitive products and efficient services to members.
• Implementing sound robust business processes and procedures for the delivery of services, as well as, products to protect the Union from exposure to insurance risk.
• Developing appropriate business processes and procedures in order to facilitate investment decisions, as well as, managing portfolios.
• Identifying insurance opportunities, as well as, making recommendations to the General Manager for presentation to management with a view to optimising returns and minimising risks.
• Taking responsibility for business growth, customer growth, as well as, opportunities for the business.
• Improving product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizingon market opportunities; improving product packaging, as well as, coordinating new product development.

The Person

The right candidate will possess the following:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.
• Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) in Short- term/Long-term Insurance.
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the insurance environment, and delivery of business services preferably in the financial services sector such as banking.
