Reports to: Manager Internal Audit
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Execute the audit programme to:
- assess operational efficiency, risks, soundness of business practices, reliability of financial reporting and effectiveness of financial controls and procedures, and
- evaluate compliance with set procedures and applicable laws
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Timely completion of annual plan
- Number of audit engagements completed as a proportion of overall plan (include target)
- Enhanced efficiency because of implementation of recommendations
- Reduction in non-compliance arising out of Audit interventions
- Provision of timely, clear, comprehensive, conclusive, and cohesive audit reports
- Quality of audit findings and recommendations
- Informed Auditees on Internal Audit matters
- Level of maturity of the internal control environment
- Continuous professional development and application of innovative practices for work improvement
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional qualification (e.g. CIA, MIIA, ACCA, CIMA, Master’s in Auditing, Finance/Accounting etc.) from a recognised institution
- At least 5 years of similar post-qualification experience.

PRINCIPAL LEGAL AND ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (Re- Advertisement)
Reports to: Deputy Director, Legal and Enforcement MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- To provide end to end board secretariat services to NBFIRA Board Committees, as well as board secretarial support to the Board Secretary.
- To provide high qualify advice, opinion and assistance to NBFIRA on legal matters and issues, for formulating the best possible legal solution and for guiding NBFIRA in taking an appropriate decision
- To carry out effective enforcement in respect of any non-compliance of NBFIs to applicable legislations and regulations
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Good, reliable, timely professional advice within the legal framework
- Effective management of legal compliance issues
- Maintaining up to date database and record of legal documents
- Compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and regulations
- Number of enforcement actions
- NBFIs implementing remedial measures to address weaknesses and non-compliance
- Strength of working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
- Quality of reports (complete, accurate, timely)
- Contribution and adherence to plan/ budget/ target
- Meeting reporting obligations (including Board Secretarial)
- Departmental risks minimised and mitigated
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- At least a Degree in Law from a recognised institution and a license to practice law in Botswana
- A master’s in Law, Economics, Business or related fields from a recognised institution will be an added advantage
- At least 8 years of similar post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 2-3 years in a comparable line management position
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Specialised knowledge and technical skills in the application of Laws and legislations in Botswana
- Licensing, supervision, and enforcement activities
- Procedures, processes, best practices in financial supervision and regulation
- Acts governing the NBFIs
- Proficient in the use of computers and software relevant to the position
- Personal value system (personal integrity, conscientiousness & strong moral character)
- Results and performance driven
