VACANCY: MANAGER – FACILITIES MANAGEMENT – E2
The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism aims to protect the environment, conserve the country’s natural resources and derive value out of the environment for the benefit of Botswana.
Applications are invited from results oriented, suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the above post in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism – Department of Corporate Services.
Salary Scale: E2 – (P388, 080 – 403, 776) per annum
Benefits:
- Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). Government will also contribute 50% of the Medical Aid cover for individuals who are already members of a different Medical Aid Scheme other than BPOMAS.
- A contract of 24 to 36 months, with gratuity at the rate of 30% payable upon expiry of contract.
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Degree in Estate/Property Management/ Construction Management/ Facilities Management, Engineering and Building Services or any related field.
Must be a Registered Member of one of the listed Institutions: ARC, ERB, QRSB or a recognised equivalent Institution.
Experience: 14 years post qualification experience in Estate/ Property Management/Facilities Management.
Main Purpose of the Job
To direct the planning and management of the Ministry/ Department’s facilities, and provide leadership in the implementation of strategies for facilities maintenance, repair, replacement, refurbishment in order to achieve the desired outputs within agreed time frame, within budget, to specification and operational standards.
Duties
Professional Advice
- Interprets and administers facilities management procedures and regulations.
- Advises Senior Management on other areas to consider for outsourcing and leads their implementation.
Facilities Management Planning
- Develops facilities management regulations, procedures and requirements.
- Maintains and updates as needed a comprehensive safety plan, a process for facilities opening and lock down, and emergency notification procedure.
- Manages the provisions ofcleaning, security and landscaping services.
- Assesses and monitors facilities repairs to ensure cost effectiveness; establishes criteria for repair versus replacement of facilities, forecast and plans facilities improvement.
Facilities Maintenance
- Supervises maintenance works to ensure they meet regulations and standards.
- Enforces compliance with applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal and hazardous materials, etc.
Safe Working Environment
- Resolves disputes as they arise and escalates where necessary those that require Senior Management intervention.
Budget Preparation and Management
- Prepares budget for the maintenance of
- Identifies and engages viable opportunities to ensure optimal usage of facilities.
- Initiates and manages procurement of Ministry/Department facilities.
