Reporting directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the Radio Communications Technician will lead the electronics repairs of all systems to ensure efficient communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate and perform autonomous electronics installation, repairs,services and maintenance of radio equipment systems (VHF and UHF), fleet management systems (Dispatch Systems) and related safety management systems on mining equipment (Vehicle Collision Avoidance Systems)
- Performs operational checks, monitors performance and related maintenance to identify and diagnose instrumentation and electronic performance problems
- Carry out on the bench electronic repairs for radios, cameras, wireless radio links and solar charge controllers.
- Optimizes equipment life cycle by monitoring equipment performance and making corrective recommendations
- Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy electronics workshop environment.
- Responsible for on the job training and coaching of his subordinates
Job Requirements:
- Diploma in Electronics/Control & Instrumentation or equivalent
- A minimum of 8yrs years trade-related work experience preferably in a mining environment of which 5yrs should have been in radio communications.
- Knowledge and understanding of Terrestrial Trunked Radio system. Installation and repairs of Brigade camera monitor systems for heavy plant equipment.
- Subordinates Effectiveness
- Valid Class B Drivers’ License
- Must be registered with Engineers’ Registration Board
