You will focus on learning how we support the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in building awareness of the benefits of regional integration in the SADC region.

You will gain valuable practical experience in international development cooperation and first-hand experience in event management. You will have the opportunity to meet communication and media professionals from the SADC Secretariat and Member States.
SNRL is a partnership between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The German contribution to the programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusarnmenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Your Tasks
You will support a team of international and regional experts in organising and evaluating media trainings and other awareness-building activities. You will be involved at all stages of the preparation, organisation and evaluation of the trainings.
Your tasks may include:
• Contribute to the planning of the trainings’ content and management;
• Technical contribution to the training, content:
• Supporting the trainings management from preparation to evaluation;
• Communicate independently with partners, stakeholders and participants,
• Monitor training participants outputs and evaluate the impact of the trainings:
• Contribute to internal and external communication materials;
• Independent research on relevant topics.
You will also support other members of the SNRL team.
Your Profile
You hold a degree in political science, international relations, development, marketing/public relations/communication/media studies or a related field.
You have a demonstrated passion for communication, journalism, marketing and public engagement. Practical experience in event management, for example through previous internships or extracurricular activities, will be an advantage.
You have very good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and strong written and oral English communication skills.
You enjoy working in a diverse team, have strong organizational skills and are able to manage tasks independently and in a solution-oriented manner.
Additional Information
The internship is full-time (Monday to Friday). It will run for three months from 1 June to 31 August 2018.
We will pay a small stipend.
Your workplace will be Gaborone, Botswana. You will need to have the right to work and live in Botswana. You may travel occasionally within Botswana and to other SADC Member States. We will cover the cost for travel outside the Gaborone area.
This internship is a learning opportunity and will not lead to permanent employment.
