Legal Aid Botswana is a Parastatal under the Ministry of Justice, established under
the Legal Aid Act, Cap. 16:02, with the objective to provide legal representation, legal
advice, and public education on legal matters to the indigent. Applications are invited
from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions under Legal Aid
Botswana. Appointments to this position will be on a Permanent and Pensionable
terms.

1. VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 1 OF 2023: PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST
(TENABLE IN GABORONE)

Main Purpose of the Job
To effectively manage the supply chain process that includes the planning of
procurement, inventory control logistics, and issuance of goods ensuring that the
process is functioning effectively, in a cost-effective manner, and in the best interest
of Legal Aid Botswana.
To ensure competent quality execution of all regular purchasing duties and administrative works.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Authorises expenditure in accordance with delegated limits.
• Recommends capital expenditure.
• Evaluates the performance of staff and recommend performance-based rewards.
• Plans procurement of goods and services and manages the procurement processes for LAB.
• Provides technical assistance and guidance on procurement regulations and procedures to LAB stations across the country.
• Liaises with the stations to determine the best performance strategy to meet their requirements.
• Compiles data contained in quotations, proposals, and bids to facilitate the determination of the best supplier in terms of quality, delivery, cost, and in compliance with PPADB regulations.
• Prepares and distributes tender documents and facilitates evaluation of bids.
• Reviews vendor invoices and processes suppliers’ invoices for payment.
• Executes and monitors all regular purchasing duties,
• Supports other LAB Units/stations with quotations for the purpose of tenders.
• Coordinates with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Prepares and processes purchase orders and documents in accordance with LAB policies and procedures
• Maintains records/inventories for all LAB equipment and assets

Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Supply Chain Management, Finance/Accounting, or Chartered Institute of Procurement and supply qualification (CIPS).
▪ Valid Driver’s license
▪ Must be a citizen of Botswana
▪ Must be fluent in both written and spoken Setswana

Work Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience, two (2) of which should
have been at the supervisory level.
