VACANCY NO: FSc/ CS 1/ 2019

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach Graduate and Undergraduate courses in Computer Science and/or Information Systems and/or Information Technology; (ii) provide academic leadership through the enhancement of teaching, research and service or engagement activities of the Department; (iii) take an active part in the supervision and assessment of Undergraduate and Graduate students’ research projects; (iv) develop and implement mentorship activities for junior staff; (v) raise research funds from funding agencies within and outside the University; (vi) facilitate partnerships internally and externally; (vii) serve on committees within the University and external professional organizations; (viii) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Candidates should have; (i) a Master’s Degree with good experience in academia or industry in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field, from a recognized university; (ii) at least 8 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iii) a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single author in at least 10 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (iv) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (v) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vi) the following will be added advantages: a relevant PhD, research mentorship to junior scholars, evidence of attracting research grants and industrial experience. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.

Ability to teach Undergraduate/Postgraduate courses.

Ability to undertake quantifiable research of high quality.

Ability to successfully graduate PG scholars.

Ability to prepare and submit research proposals.

Ability to work as a team member and also lead when and where necessary.

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

Ability to participate and boost the department’s case in various internal and external committees and forums.
