Supported by leading ecotourism operator, Wilderness Safaris, Children in the Wilderness (CITW) is a life skills educational programme that focuses on the next generation of rural decision makers, developing environmental leaders who are inspired to care for their natural heritage, so that they become the custodians of these areas in the future. Registered as a non-profit in Botswana in 2001, CITW has positively impacted the lives of more than 10 000 children in seven African countries, with many alumni later joining the ecotourism industry in adult life.
Children in the Wilderness Botswana is inviting like-minded people who suit the below criteria to apply for the role of programme coordinator, and to join this remarkable non-profit to help drive sustainable conservation through leadership development and education of rural children in Africa.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Proactively administrate, manage and coordinate all CITW Botswana activities, including Eco-Clubs, Eco-Mentor training, and annual Eco-Camps. The person will report to the Wilderness Safaris Botswana MD, and Group Sustainability Manager.

Specification
Brief description of position
•Assist with the development of the CITW plan for Wilderness Safaris Botswana
•CITW stakeholder engagement, regional cooperation and general networking
•Host CITW Eco-Camps and Eco-Clubs at various locations in Botswana
•Ensure efficient and effective CITW project implementation, such as the annual Eco-Stars magazine, Southern African Wildlife College programme, participate in the UNICEF CEO Council and monitor other new CITW projects
•Ensure that the CITW Botswana programmes and project finances are managed effectively, with transparency and accountability, in conjunction with the CITW Sustainability Manager
•Build relationships with donors and sponsors who are involved in the various projects
•Promote the CITW brand effectively and efficiently
•Responsible for the effective, efficient administration of the CITW programme
Requirements
Qualifications
•Diploma in Education / equivalent
•5 years’ experience in the field, of which 3 years should be at supervisory level
•Valid driver’s licence and passport
•NGO exposure and experience of engagement with communities or schools, or the conservation field is an advantage
•Experience in administration, event planning and management, fundraising, accounting and board management is an added advantage
