Working as a Wilderness Safaris guide is a process that highlights your passion, enthusiasm and knowledge to explore this magnificent African Bushveld and to be able to share this with your guests who travel the world to experience this truly magical place. It requires a unique set of skills that is not always obvious to the outside observer. A Guide is a proactive person who strives to do things better and to ensure that through this approach accidents, damages and any breakages are avoided. The guide should be able to give the whole rounded experience and not just focus on the obvious larger animals. The guide needs to be extremely flexible in accommodating an ever changing schedule. The successful candidate will report to the camp General Manager
Specification
- Work closely with the camp management team and other guides in an accountable manner
- To ensure that the guests have a safe and memorable experience whilst visiting the Wilderness safaris property
- Sensitive to the impact his/her activities have on the environment and when driving a vehicle or boat he/she will do this in the most responsible manner.
- Accountable team player who is reliable and punctual.
- Taking imitative to improve the status co in a collaborative manner.

- As part of the camp management team hosting dinners, being empathetic to guests and efficiently dealing with delicate situations
- Always act as an ambassador of Wilderness and the country
- To ensure that he/she is always portraying a professional guide in terms of appearance
- Always acting within the National Parks regulations
- Preparing for game drives appropriately and hosting guests for tea and sundowners
- Always being sensitive to the needs or requirements of guests.
Requirements
Brief Description of position:
The Guide is responsible for the following:
•Driving the hospitality and safari offering so as to exceed guest expectations.
•Ensuring high levels of guest interaction and education.
•Maintaining all aspects of facilities and assets in the camp and back of house entrusted to them.
•Safety of guests and staff.
•Environmental awareness according to the Wilderness standards.
•Adhering to all Company Guiding Minimum Standards.
•Adhering to all Company Policies, Protocols and Procedures.
•Being well dressed and groomed, as well as maintaining a personal appearance in line with Company Policies and having pride in company attire.
Minimum Requirements
•A minimum of 5 years guiding experience spent in a Wilderness camp.
•A minimum of 3 of the 5 years of guiding experience spent in a Premier Camp
•A minimum of Wilderness Level 1 qualification, a Wilderness level 2 qualification will be an added advantage
•A Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) is required.
