The Tax Director is expected to lead and direct the Tax team for the growth of Baker Tilly’s tax practice. He/she will be responsible the strategic development and growth of the tax practice, marketing and identification of tax opportunities, general building clients’ relationships, training, development and mentoring of junior staff, review of projects deliverables and ensure quality assurance.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should be in possession of an accounting/commerce degree or equivalent professional qualification sucn as CIMA, or ACCA. An MBA/MBL or a related post graduate tax diploma will be essential for this post.
The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years tax practical working experience in all aspects of Botswana tax at a senior managerial level preferably in a professional accounting firm.
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have good leadership skills and has proven track record of managing teams and servicing a multiple of clients’portfolios. Should have superior tax technical ability in VAT, Income Tax and International Tax laws, and should be competent in reviewing tax opinions and tax computations.
Should have good project management skills to plan, manage budgets and deliver work for clients efficiently.
Should be deadline driven and has the ability to cope under pressure. Should possess good interpersonal skills and has the ability to communicate and interact at all levels.
A good understanding of deferred tax and a working knowledge of Transfer Pricing as well as other neighbouring countries tax legislation is an added advantage.
