The successful candidate will be required to: (i) assist in educational and occupation programmes in special education; (ii) repair and maintain assistive devices used in special education; (iii) provide specialized technical and instructional support related to assistive hardware, software and peripherals; (iv) work with Special Education Lecturers in preparing, organizing and conducting educational or pedagogical support activities; maintaining inventory and record of equipment loans issued from assigned laboratory; (v) carry out other educational activities such as organization of practicum as well as teaching practice activities; (vi) supervise the daily activities of the computer labs, (vii) Periodically train students and staff on the use of access technology equipment; (viii) participate in academic and professional activities of the Department of Educational Foundations that require her/his expertise, as well as carry out other responsibilities assigned from time to time by the Head of Department.


Ideally, the successful candidate should have: (i) a Diploma in Special Education or its equivalent, (ii) competency in the use of assistive technology and or adaptive equipment and maintenance of assistive devices; (iii) experience in using hardware and software that is used in special education will be an added advantage; (iv) effective communication skills with staff and students in both oral and written form, as well as ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 years post qualification work experience in the advertised area;
