Operating within the tourism industry for over two decades now, Uncharted Africa Safari co. runs award winning Safari Camps and Expeditions throughout Botswana. UASC is currently seeking highly experienced individuals to join its team in various capacities. The successful candidates will be committed, well-organised individuals, who are not afraid of a challenge.

1. LODGE GENERAL MANAGER x 3 (Management Couples welcome to apply as well)
The main purpose of the Lodge General Manager is to manage the lodge and thereby create a profound guest experience, in line with the service vision and creative concepts of the Lodge. It is the responsibility of the lodge General Manager to monitor hospitality service, maintenance. and housekeeping standards within the lodge The role is additionally strategic in nature, and the Lodge General Manager must drive the appropriate service directives tor the camp, and move the departments towards achieving broader goals. in this capacity, guest expectation.. regarding the standard of service should be exceeded. In addition, the camp needs to be monitored so that it runs in a cost-effective manner, within the agreed budget; in a manner, which is conducive to positive inter-personal relationships between staff. and at a superior level of efficiency. The Lodge General Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the morale of the camp staff is kept at a high level and that staff are developed on an ongoing basis.

Finally, the Lodge General Manager must provide a written hand over of responsibilities to the Front of House Manager in his/her absence and ensure that a full handover is received on his/her return.

This position is accountable to the Operations Manager

SCOPE Of WORK:
In broad terms the Camp Manager oversees the following key performance areas
• Drive the broader goals of the company, in terms of the camp, by planning and implementing Strategic Management Plans.
• Management, training and up skilling of the camp staff in line with the Uncharted Africa Standard of Excellence.
• Ensure ultimate guest relations in the camp and that the ‘at home’ personal attention levels are maintained.
• Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and maintenance and ensure that style and design is not eroded
• Effective financial management through the administration of orders and effective stock control.
• Effective communication and maintenance of camp relations.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 4 year’s work experience – Ideally 2 years as a trainee and 4 in a well-recognized five-star hotel or world class lodge, as a manager.
• Exceptional Food and Beverage knowledge.
• Financial management ability.
• A hardworking co-operative manner.
• High standards of service excellence and a passion for the industry.
• Attention to detail.
• Exceptional English and a second language would be preferable.
• Good computer literacy.
• Excellent management ability and communication skills.
• A clear understanding of base labor law and disciplinary procedures.
• A developmental approach to staff.
• Assertiveness, patience and good organizational skills.
• Understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures.
• An awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries as welt as international trends in hospitality.

2. MAINTENANCE MANAGER x 1
We are looking for a self-starter Maintenance Manager to drive and deliver the desired service. maintenance and project excellence required to support the effective and efficient operation of the CT11 Concession and its assets in part or whole.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
• Tie workflow to schedule
• Maintain all vehicles, roads, watering holes, air-strip and other concession areas

• Manage all on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
• Draw up and maintain an annual concession maintenance budget
• Produce timely and detailed service & maintenance plans & reports
• Document processes
• Operate vehicle in a safely manner and use field automation systems
• Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols and develop new ones to support the operation
• Manage the CT11 Concession Technical/Maintenance team to derive maximum value and output
• Comprehend Camp specific requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings

REQUIREMENTS
• Proven field and technical experience in welding, plumbing, electrics, carpentry, building, mechanics etc
• at least 5 years
• Ability to troubleshoot test, repair and service technical equipment
• English literacy
• Ability to work flexible shifts arid to adapt to changing work schedules
• Familiarity with mobile took and applications
• Technical Degree or Certification or Relevant Experience in Lieu
• Experience in the Tourism & Hospitality field will be preferred

3. PROFESSIONAL SAFARI GUIDES x 12
We are looking for Professional Guides that have a passion for the Hospitality & Tourism industry and are looking for a challenge, in the Makgadikgadi.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
• A valid Botswana or international Guides’ Licence held for at least 5 years
• At least 25 years of age
• A valid Driving Licence
• A valid PRDP Permit (Or should be able to get one within 4 – 5 months)
• An in-depth knowledge of, and passion for the flora fauna & geography of Botswana & Southern Africa(experience guiding in a desert environment is a bonus)
• A passion for and interest in the hospitality & tourism industry and willingness to learn
• Fluency in English a must. plus any other International Language (s)
• A Degree/Qualification in any science related field will be an added advantage

4. ACCOUNTS CLERK (Planet Baobab)

REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in Accounting or Level 4 AAT or equivalent qualification.
• 2+ years full function Bookkeeping experience
• General computer literacy (Windows. MS Word and Excel ability to do basic formulas and format spread-sheets)
• Accounting software package experience (Pastel preferred)
• Understand age analysis of accounts and understand general ledger structures
• Must be highly motivated, organised, efficient and have experience dealing with suppliers.

DUTIES
• The Cash Box
• Invoicing for Guests
• Daily, weekly & Monthly Reconciliations of Revenue
• Petty Cash Requisitions, issuing & Reconciliations
• Monthly Revenue Reports
• Overseeing Bar & Reception Personnel

5. TEMPORARY ACCOUNTS CLERK – CREDITORS (Francistown)

Uncharted Africa Safari Company is looking for someone with experience on the above role from February 2018 – August, 2018.

REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Accounting or Level 4 AAT or equivalent qualifications.
• 5+ years full function Creditors and Bookkeeping experience
• General computer literacy (Windows. MS Word and Excel ability to do basic formulas and format spread-sheets)
• Accounting software package experience (Pastel preferred)
• Understand age analysis of accounts and understand general lodger structures
• Must be highly motivated, organised, efficient and have experience dealing with suppliers.

DUTIES
These would include but not be limited to:
• Capturing creditors invoices
• Capturing cash book payments
• Preparing creditor payment requisitions and ensuring creditor payments are done on time
• Reconciling creditor statements
• Processing month end journal entries
• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts.

This position is accountable to the Finance Manager

 

6. BAR ATTENDANTS x2
