MEDIATION & ADR MANAGER – LEGAL AID BOTSWANA

Job description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position under Legal Aid Botswana. Appointment to this position will be on a fixed term contract of not more than 5 years

Main Purpose of the Job:

  • To train Legal Aid Botswana staff in respect of mediation with particular emphasis on mediation in family law matters
  • To manage the mediation unit, and
  • To make recommendations on policy, regulations and legislation necessary to improve efficiency and reduce costs in respect of family law matters

 

Duties:

  • Trains Legal Aid Botswana staff in respect of mediation with particular emphasis on mediation in family law matters
  • Manages the mediation unit
  • Renders legal advice on complex matters
  • Make recommendations on policy, regulations and legislation necessary to improve efficiency and reduce costs in respect of family law matters
  • Conducts in-house training and facilitates orientation programmes
  • Monitors performance and provides guidance to junior staff in adherence to Legal Aid Botswana standards
  • Attends various stakeholder meetings and represents Legal Aid Botswana
  • Undertakes any other related tasks as required to meet exigencies of the service

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Admitted as a legal practitioner in Botswana
  • Certification as a Mediator
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Must be a resident in Botswana
  • Must be fluent in both Setswana and English

 

Experience:

  • Not less than 10 years experience in the legal practice as well as mediation
