PART-TIME LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (1 POSITION) – 4 MONTH CONTRACT, RENEWABLE CONTINGENT TO FUNDING AVAILABILITY VACANCY NO: IRC 739
DUTIES: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) Collect and process of all blood and tissue samples from the study; (ii) separate peripheral blood into peripheral blood mononuclear cells serum; (iii) perform flow cytometry studies and willing to train further in flow cytometry; (iv) store samples and manage the biobank; (v) analyze wet-prep smears; iv) retrieve samples from the national laboratories and other collaborating institutions; (vi) maintaining the database of all samples and specimens; (vii) coordinate all sample/tissue shipments for national and international processing; and, (viii) procurement of reagents, (ix) development of standard operating procedures, (x) any other tasks deemed necessary by the supervisor and or study team.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should hold a (i) Degree in Biological studies; (ii) Master’s degree will be an added advantage; and (iii) Valid driver’s License.
