Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees for the position of Relationship Manager – Group Life and Group Funeral.
Job Summary
The role of the Relationship Manager – Group Life and Group Funeral is to drive the implementation of the strategic intent for Botswana Life Insurance Limited’s (BLIL’s) Group life and group funeral portfolios as well to maintain cordial relationships with clients and brokers. The role also exists to plan, control and execute the acquisition and maintenance activities so as to maximize profitability of the portfolio base.


Key Performance Areas:
  • Drives action planning for the Group Life and Group Funeral portfolio associated with key strategic leverage areas identified in the strategic plan.
  • Responsible to achieve the company objectives of sales and market share.
  • Manages the Group Life and Group Funeral portfolios of the company within agreed strategic plans and budgets as approved by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • On an annual basis or monthly as applicable, reviews the profitability of all Group life & Group funeral schemes with a view of imposing rate increases in cases of loss making schemes.
  • Manages new business budgets/targets in order to maximize profitability of Group Life and Group Funeral portfolios from their customer base.
  • Manage, monitor and evaluates focus group events, and sales promotional activities.
  • Coordinates the involvement of the strategic partners in product development process.
  • Checks the accuracy of the outgoing quotations
  • and ensures that turnaround times as agreed are strictly adhered to.
  • Explores and develops business opportunities in new channels to increase the penetration of insurance
  • Develop tools and sales tactics to enhance sales opportunities.
Qualifications & experience required
  • This position requires a BA degree in Social Sciences or Business Administration plus at least 5-6 years’ experience at a management position.
  • A professionally recognized life assurance marketing / servicing qualification such as membership of the Institute of Life and Pensions Advisors, Professional Accounting, membership of the Insurance Institute of South Africa or equivalent will be an added advantage
  • Five years’ experience in Insurance is a pre requisite.
