Job Summary

To manage, co-ordinate and control project site construction activities and provide contractor management support to Project Managers / Project Engineers.

Minimum Requirements

o O Level.
o National Craft Certificate/National Diploma or equivalent.
o Ten (10) years post qualification experience in a heavy engineering environment, including four (4) years at Maintenance Coordinator/ Foreman level.
o Supervisory Development Program.
o Professional Engineer registration with a valid practicing Certificate.
o Valid Drivers’ licence.
o ECOHS training.

Key activities
o Aligns projects site construction administration to standard requirements and drives consistent generation of necessary documentation and records taking cognizance of the need to create a clear audit trail by ensuring that;
o Daily records of site activities are consistently submitted.
o Effective site supervision is consistently provided by contractors.
o Construction changes are documented, signed off and controlled.
o Project construction Site Rules and Regulations are complied with.
o Disciplinary interfaces are understood and managed.
o Manages and coordinates all activities of contractors on construction sites focusing on;
o Adherence to Debswana standards and specifications.
o Schedule control and compliance.
o Resolution of site queries and construction conflicts.
o Checks progress on the construction project budgets focusing on cost overrun avoidance and timely expenditure through;
o Understanding budgetary limitations.
o Driving work progress in line with cash flow commitments.
o Effective scoping and scope control to avoid variations.
o Ensuring that all additional works are agreed and covered by corresponding contract/ order amendments.
o Maintains good relationships with Customers, role-players and stakeholders, taking cognisance of the Group Code of Good Practice, localisation and customer orientation requirements by;
o Resolving all construction site problems and queries with contractors, suppliers, vendor companies and internal departments or functions.
o Managing periodic service satisfaction surveys.
o Building effective relationships with key role players and stakeholders.
o Developing appropriate relationships with contractors and service providers.
o Managing contractor processes on site which includes correlating progress on site with progress, payments, understanding claims and participating in the resolution of claims.
o Contributes to team cohesion and personal effectiveness by;
o Communicating/networking formally and informally on issues of common interest.
o Managing change.
o Assisting with the development of effective team cultures.
o Setting and reviewing personal work objectives to improve effectiveness in the work place.
o Staying abreast of developments and trends in the fields of expertise.
o Takes cognisance of, adheres to and promotes Corporate Governance and Company policies and procedures relating to inter alia; contractor management safety, health, environmental, risk and security issues.
o Liaises with the SHE Officer and ECOHS Coordinators to ensure that Company ECOHS Site requirements are upheld and maintained throughout the construction work cycle ensuring that;
o Contractor ECOHS SHE Files are timeously compiled
o Contractor labour force is appropriately scrutinized, vetted and managed
o Work method statements complete with SWPs are drawn up and approved
o Risk assessment process is strictly adhered to done correctly from BRA to PTRA
o Planned Task Observations are regularly undertaken
o Relevant records are uploaded into the Company ECOHS Management System and appropriately managed / closed out
o Works with project construction team members to ensure that Contractor Site Rules and Regulations are enforced.
