Job Description

The Wentzel group of Spar’s are looking for an experience Take-Away Manager to oversee each of our Take-Away’s. We currently have 5 Take-Away Departments, one in each Spar.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage fresh food department targets and profitability

      Fresh food departments include:

  • Deli
  • Take Away
  • Convenience Foods
  • Salad Bar
  1. Control stock   
  • Set ideal stock levels per product category
  • Ensure consistent quality in freshness and presentation
  • Set expiry dates and ensure stock rotated on a daily basis
  • Design new products; recipes and meal solutions for the fresh food departments
  1. Buying
  • Quality raw materials / bought in lines and expense items according to customer requirements using an ordering system on a daily basis
  • Identify ideal stock levels of all items purchased in the fresh foods departments and maintain these stock levels on an ongoing basis
  1. Point of Sale & Pricing
  • Spot check  fresh food products to ensure current neat and tidy prices are displayed
  1. Hygiene, Safety and Housekeeping
  • Ensure correct chemicals and procedures are used to maintain a sanitized and pest free environment
  • Ensure the fresh food departments comply with relevant food safety legislation.
  • All facilities used are well maintained

 

  1. Manage staff
  • Ensure All staff are aware of the required work standards and are given a performance review
  • Set Daily  / weekly schedules to optimize staff within budget, limiting use of casuals and overtime

Training Required

The incumbent will require to be trained on the following to perform to satisfactory levels

  • Chef training
  • Retail Systems training
  • Management skills (people and basic financial management)
  • Customer Service
  • Hygiene, safety. Housekeeping training & Food Safety

This position is available to Citizen’s and Non-Citizen’s, as a sign of professionalism only apply if you have more than 5 Years experience as a Take Away Supervisor or Manager. Applicant must be willing to move and live in Gaborone, Botswana.
