Community Based Interventions for HIV/AIDS in Botswana Project (ExCAB)

HPP Botswana is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the available positions of the upcoming USAID funded project to implement an activity to support the maintenance and uninterrupted delivery of quality HIV/AIDS services within communities and strengthen the community and health systems in Botswana with an emphasis on the delivery of integrated HIV services. This position is contingent on the project: Community Based Interventions for HIV/AIDS in Botswana Project (ExCAB).

Job opportunity: Social Worker-GBV(I) Full Time

JOB SUMMARY/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Gender Based Violence Social Worker will be responsible for facilitation of care for GBV survivors including referrals to other agencies for further case management. The position holder will support other project officers in provision of psychosocial support, awareness raising activities and provision of information on available services from the project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• To provide the day-to-day management of all GBV cases, including the identification, documentation, developing case plans and follow ups.
• Liaises directly with other service providers working within the area of project implementation and communities where the project is implemented and facilitate referrals to other service providers.
• Identify opportunities for awareness rising within the areas of project implementation as well as planning the sessions and conduct the sessions
• Maintain positive coordination and relationship with other partners in the field to promote holistic approach to case management
• Supports the orientation, on-going development/training and capacity building of community volunteers and community based protection mechanisms including Child Protection Committees, Youth Groups, Women Groups and traditional and religious leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The ideal candidate should possess a relevant degree or equivalent in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology and/or Counseling
• The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in social work dealing with GBV case management including providing psych social support for survivors of GBV
• The ideal candidate should have clear understanding of GBV management in Botswana
• The ideal candidate should be able to maintain confidentiality, ethics and respect for clients at all times
• The ideal candidate should have knowledge of community mobilization and facilitation techniques
• Ability and willingness to work in a participatory manner with a diverse range of communities and beneficiaries
