The Botswana Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) is a statutory body established under the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund Act and began operations on 1 January 1987. It provides financial compensation to individuals who are injured or lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents that occur within Botswana. The Fund’s headquarters are situated in Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana. In addition to compensation, the MVA Fund conducts road safety awareness programmes aimed at reducing the frequency and severity of accidents. Its operations are overseen by a board appointed by the Minister of Transport and Communications.
