The Butchershop Botswana is seeking a qualified and experienced Butchery Floor Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our butchery and fresh meat department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production of high-quality meat products, maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of all butchery floor staff
- Oversee the processing, cutting, trimming, and packaging of meat products
- Ensure consistent production quality and adherence to company standards
- Enforce compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP and health department requirements
- Monitor the safe operation and routine maintenance of butchery equipment such as bandsaws, slicers, and scales
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and occupational health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma or equivalent qualification
- At least 5 years’ experience in a butchery or meat processing environment, with progressively increasing responsibility
- Previous supervisory experience is highly advantageous
- Minimum 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of meat cutting, trimming, and processing techniques
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Ability to operate and oversee maintenance of butchery equipment
- Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to train, motivate, and supervise a team effectively
