Job Title: Chef Skills Developer
Location: SINGITA OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the Prue Leith course resources provided in line with the curriculum.
- Utilize the instructional methods created by Prue Leith and SCCS team to engage students in the learning process.
- Ensure the classroom is set up and maintained to implement curriculum and Singita standard of training e.g., equipment, ingredients.
- Maintain up to date records of students’ attendance and marks in templates provided and report to SCCS Coordinator and Prue Leith Lead as per agreed schedule.
- Evaluate each student’s academic performance, Proof of Evidence folder, and provide feedback timeously and professionally.
- Ensure that students follow relevant disciplinary and behavioral standards.
- Develop a well-structured, positive, and safe learning environment for students.
- Monitor student well-being and guide students to utilize appropriate services available in the Singita network where needed.
- Organize and attend student orientations, graduations, and other student events, contributing as required.
- Support Singita’s sustainability principles and practices in keeping with Singita’s “The Long Run” Sustainability commitments.
- Coordinate lodge work experience and performance monitoring with the Singita Lodge Head Chef.
- Support the industry work internship placements for students and career guidance support for students.
- Ensure standards of health and safety are adhered to.
- Document and manage comprehensive cleaning protocol for kitchen, equipment, and utensils.
- Maintain all kitchen equipment as per instructions and ensure correct utilization by students.
- Conduct weekly inventory and stock counts (e.g., ingredients, equipment, utensils).
- Manage the ordering of ingredients for the practical components of the course, ensuring adherence to budget constraints and identifying cost-effective substitutions where possible.
- Proactively oversee budget management and equipment needs, ensuring efficient resource allocation and sustainability.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of coffee machines and the SCCS cooking studio.
- Ensure that the SCCS venue and premises are guest-ready at any time as per protocol.
- Implement guest visits and SCCS cooking classes in keeping with protocol.
- Provide regular and ad hoc reports as agreed with the SCCS Coordinator.
- Provide content for donors and other communications to Singita Marketing or Management, as required.
- Attend scheduled planning meetings with SCCS Coordinator, other regional CSDs and Prue Leith.
- Work lodge shifts as required.
