Job Title: HATCHERY MANAGER
Job Summary
We are seeking for a knowledgeable and motivated Hatchery Manager to oversee daily operations of our poultry hatchery. The successful candidate will ensure optimal hatchability, chick quality, and biosecurity standards while leading a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise hatchery staff to achieve production targets.
- Manage the incubation processes, egg handling, and chick quality control.
- Monitor environmental conditions within the incubation process ensuring optimal temperature, humidity and airflow.
- Implement and monitor strict biosecurity and hygiene protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of hatchery performance and inventory.
- Analyse production data and prepare reports to identify trends and improve efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of equipment and systems to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare and industry regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement in hatchery efficiency and productivity.
Requirements
- Degree in Animal Science, Poultry Production, or related field.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in poultry hatchery management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strong understanding of hatchery equipment and incubation technology
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Experienced with the Jamesway Single and Multistage incubators
- Experience with automation technologies and data analytics in hatchery management
- Experience with bio security practises and protocols in the hatchery environment
- Experience in hatching the Cobb breed would be an advantage
