Kingsway (Secretarial · Accounting · Governance) is seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Financial Accountant to join our growing professional services team. The role focuses on preparing and compiling financial statements for a portfolio of clients across various industries. This position is ideal for an accountant who is technically strong, highly organized, and comfortable working directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and ensure timely preparation of financial statements. The ideal candidate is an accountant who enjoys working with clients, solving accounting issues, and preparing high-quality financial statements. You should be comfortable communicating with business owners and management teams, gathering financial information, and ensuring financial statements are prepared accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accounting records from source documents through to trial balance.
- Compile annual financial statements for clients in accordance with IFRS and/or IFRS for SMEs and PIEs (Public Interest Entities).
- Prepare working papers and final trial balances to support the compilation of financial statements.
- Perform financial statement compilation engagements in accordance with ISRS 4410.
- Prepare relevant disclosures, schedules, and notes required for compliant financial reporting.
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain financial information, resolve accounting queries, and ensure timely completion of engagements.
- Assist clients with maintaining proper accounting records and financial reporting practices.
- Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and other professionals when required.
- Monitor engagement timelines and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, engagement procedures, and quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies for both clients and internal workflows.
Requirements

- BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in preparing financial statements within an accounting firm, audit firm, or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and/or IFRS for SMEs.
- Experience with financial statement compilation engagements will be an advantage.
- Experience using accounting software and financial reporting tools (e.g., Caseware, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar).
- Membership or progress towards a professional qualification such as: BICA (Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants), ACCA, CIMA, Or similar professional accounting body.
