Emeritus International Reinsurance (Botswana) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Credit Controller to join our Underwriting team. The Credit Controller is a key member of the Finance Department and will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the company’s receivables and payables within a reinsurance environment. The role covers credit assessment, premium collections, claims recovery follow-up, creditor management, and technical accounting coordination. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring strong cash flow management, accurate reconciliations, and timely financial reporting. In addition, the Credit Controller will be responsible for maintaining effective and professional relationships with cedants, retrocessionaires, and internal stakeholders to support efficient financial operations and risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a finance role, preferably within insurance or reinsurance, with experience as a Credit Controller.
  • Knowledge of the insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
  • Part qualified with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
  • Proficiency in financial software applications, accounting systems (e.g., SunSystem, SICSNT), databases, spreadsheets and word processing tools.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder management capabilities.
